ISLAND OF CRETE
Crete is a region of Greece, it is the
biggest island and the most southern one. Crete is 260 km (160
miles) long and 56 km (35 miles) at it's widest point. The area
is 8,260 sq km (3,190 sq mi). Crete's population is close to
600,000.
In Crete there are many sights to visit from
deferens chronological periods. Crete is divided into 4
administrative areas where in each administrative area there are
several municipalities, each of them includes several towns and
villages. The administrative areas are:
- Heraklion / Iraklion , east Crete
- Lassithi , east Crete
- Chania / Hania , west Crete
- Rethymnon , west Crete

Crete has 3 airports, in Heraklion
(Heraklion), in Akrotiri (Chania), and in Sitia (Lassithi).
Also, in Crete there are five harbors: the
Heraklion harbor (Heraklion), the Souda Bay harbor (Chania),the
Rethymnon harbor (Rethymnon), the Agios Nikolaos and Sitia
harbors (Lassithi).
